Fox Creek delivers flavoursome, easy drinking red and white wines with the 2005 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2004 Shiraz Grenache.
Established in 1984 by Jim and Helen Watts, McLaren Vale’s Fox Creek is recognised for producing quality red wines; but not to the exclusion of some pretty smart white wines like the 2005 Sauvignon Blanc, which is a good example of this clean crisp style.
The 2005 Fox Creek Sauvignon Blanc has a nose showing herbaceous cut grass characters and hints of citrus, followed by a palate bringing passionfruit and tropical gooseberry flavours to the fore. Full and vibrant, the wine finishes cleanly with pleasant zesty acidity and hints of lime.
Enjoy this wine all by itself or pair it with delicately flavoured foods such as salt and pepper squid.
The 2004 Fox Creek Shiraz Grenache has rich blackberry and blueberry aromas with dark cherry and hints of vanillin spice from subtle oak maturation. A generous entry of complex, rich fruit leads to a full spicy palate of dark berries with soft tannins and excellent length. The composition of this wine is 65% Shiraz and 35% Grenache.
“Shiraz and Grenache are two of McLaren Vale’s strengths and when blended together you have a fabulous wine that delivers outstanding quality at a very affordable price,” said Chris Dix, Senior Winemaker Fox Creek Wines.
The soft tannins of the 2004 Fox Creek Shiraz Grenache make it the ideal complement to a range of dishes from Asian cuisine to Moroccan lamb.
The suggested retail price of these wines is:
The Fox Creek Sauvignon Blanc is $16.00
The Fox Creek Shiraz Grenache is $17.00
These wines are available from cellar door and at good wine stores and leading restaurants throughout Australia.
